What Information Does a Credit Report Hold?

Jul 10, 2017 |

Credit reports contain information about your financial history. They are an important resource for lenders when assessing your credibility as a potential borrower, so keeping up to date with their status is important.

Everyone has a legal right to access their credit reports at a cost of £2 per credit reference agency. There are also ways to check it for free, this can be done using credit report websites such as  Noddle and Clearscore.

Viewing your credit report will allow you to check the following information:

  • Name, Address and Date of Birth
  • How much you currently owe lenders, including information about any late or missed payments on existing or past cred card or loan accounts.
  • County Court Judgements made against you
  • Any repossessions of homes
  • Whether you have been declared bankrupt

Credit reports are compiled by three major credit reference agencies Callcredit, Equifax and Experian. Your financial information is often split between the agencies when submitted by lenders, so it’s recommended to keep up to date with all of them when necessary.
